I am a professional artist based in North Devon, England, and I specialise in painting animals.  For many years now I have been teaching my pastelling techniques to artists from across the UK and Europe, many of whom have gone on to build up successful businesses of their own. For the foreseeable future however I will not be adding any further two and three day courses, but instead will be concentrating on single painting days and afternoons for groups of two or three and private tuition for one or two artists at a time who would like more in-depth tuition.

As well as providing face to face tuition I will be continuing with my tried and tested e-workshops which to date have helped hundreds of artists from across the world.  I am also developing a range of e-books through Amazon as a cheap and cheerful introduction to pastelling.

Originals, prints and commissions - I will shortly be setting up a new website dedicated to my original artwork, prints and commissions - this website is to provide information about the teaching side of my business.  I will post further details shortly to help you navigate between the two.

E-books on Amazon -  A big thank you to everyone who has been buying my e-books, and I do hope you are finding them helpful and informative.   Providing a simple and affordable introduction to my pastelling techniques, my "Follow This" guides will get you straight down to the serious business of putting pastel to paper .   Packed with useful tips they are suitable for artists of all levels.  The range so far comprises tiger, tabby cat and puppy.  You can find them all on the Kindle store at Amazon and it is easy to download straight to your PC if you prefer this option to using a reader device.  Click this link to "Follow This Tiger" and you can "Follow This Tabby"  by clicking this one. Courses by other artists - I would like to help bring together artists looking for courses with artists providing those courses, and I will shortly be adding a dedicated page to my website for this purpose.  The idea is to provide space for a couple of paragraphs of text together with a photo - and at an affordable price!   If you are interested, please email me to discuss what you would like to do.

 E-workshops - these distance courses are ideal for those who prefer to develop their art in the comfort of their own home.  Easy to follow written instructions are provided along with images of each stage, making it easy to produce a beautiful finished painting and gain knowledge of techniques that you can apply to your own artwork.  These courses utilise a variety of media - pastel, pastel pencil, oil pastel and mixed media.  Further details are on my E-workshops page, which contains a selection of my artists' comments.  

'Wildcat Siesta'

Painting Days and Afternoons - on this page you will find details of my intensive three hour Painting Afternoons and my Painting Days which run from 10.00 to 4.30.   Limited respectively to two and three artists at a time, these courses are designed to give you the opportunity to learn my pastelling techniques on an animal subject of your choice.  Dates will be put on by arrangement, if you can organise the relevant number of people please let me know and I will be happy to arrange a date to suit.

Reference Library   If you have ever suffered from "artists' block" when nothing seems to inspire you, you will be pleased to know that I have now set up an artists' reference library full of interesting images to help get you started.   Priced at £5.00 each, these images are free of charge to anyone wishing to use one on one of my courses.

Private Lessons - I can provide one to one or one to two tuition to provide more intensive help for artists who wish to make quick progress with their artwork by general tuition or by tackling problem areas.  I also provide a consultancy service by email to help with any tricky areas encountered in commissions or originals.

Commissions - I have many years' experience undertaking commissions of dogs, cats, horses - in fact anything animal.  If you are interested in a commission of that special animal please have a look at my Commissions page, or email to discuss further.
