Mid-week and Weekend Art Breaks
"A wonderful course, expertly tutored. I'm leaving full of enthusiasm to try new things out" - Helen Mattacott, Exeter "Wonderful tuition. A great time was had by all of us. Your courses really give us all the incentive to keep painting and return home with renewed vigour!!" - Margaret Addison, Chippenham "Thank you for another excellent course which I really enjoyed" - Adelaide Lifely, Gloucestershire
Why not get away from it all and come along to one of our art breaks in deepest rural Devon? Make new friends while you develop your pastel skills in a friendly, homely atmosphere. You can paint in our studio or in our wooded grounds, where you can enjoy some lovely views over the surrounding countryside. In the summer you can relax and enjoy refreshments on our shady patio. These breaks are suitable for all levels from beginners to advanced. The style of tuition will make it easy for you to learn and develop pastel techniques under expert supervision. To ensure individual tuition, places are limited to four artists for each course. If you are coming by public transport, we will be more than happy to come and collect you from local bus and train stations. Non-painting partners will find plenty to see and do. For those who enjoy the outdoors, there is some maginficent scenery to explore. Our cottage is in an area of outstanding natural beauty, and overlooks the beautiful Cott Wood valley with its streamside wooded walks. Exmoor and Dartmoor are within easy driving distance, and the Tarka Trail runs close by. There are many places to visit at nearby Torrington, including the ever popular Royal Horticultural Society gardens at Rosemoor and the Dartington Crystal factory and shop, with tours of the factory and finished fine crystal for sale - an ideal gift to take back. For those who love horses, the Exmoor Pony Centre near Dulverton is a must. As might be expected, the area is well supplied with traditional inns serving local ales and good food, where you are always sure of a warm welcome. Try the local pubs in the nearby villages of Dolton and Winkleigh.
Our art breaks are run over a three day weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), or midweek (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Please refer to the next page for programme details. The cost of the 2010 art breaks will be £195.00, with a deposit of £100.00 payable on booking. There is no need to bring any materials yourself. For your break we will also provide you with light refreshments and Saturday/Wednesday lunch. Sunday/Thursday lunch will be an extra charge.
***New - Painting and Leisure Breaks*** Spread over three days, these courses are designed for artists who would like to combine tuition with time out to explore the beautiful scenery of North Devon and visit our local attractions - ideal for those wishing to get out and about with non-painting partners. On these Painting and Leisure Breaks you are free to choose whatever you would like to paint - develop pet portrait skills by working from a photo of your favourite pet and/or choose some subjects from my Workshops' Gallery (for which you will be provided with stage by stage photographs and written instructions). Proceed as fast or slowly as you like - help and guidance will be on hand, and numbers are kept low to ensure individual tuition. The cost of these Painting and Leisure Breaks is £150.00, with a £75.00 deposit payable on booking. Please refer to next page for schedule.
