Estelle Grant

"I took up painting three years ago after attending a workshop with Vivien.  I was completely inspired by the experience and have not stopped painting since!  I have always loved animals, and have had several dogs and horses over the years.  I try to capture the heart and soul of each animal I paint.

"My prices for commissioned work would depend on size and content, starting at £70.00 for a small head and shoulders portrait".

Helena Lewis

"I have been interested in art for many years, and since moving to Devon now have the opportunity to change my career and also study for a Fine Art degree.  Living in the country I am lucky enough to see wildlife close at hand and enjoy using wild and domestic animals in my artwork.  I try to capture the real spirit of the animals as they are all so individual, especially when you look at that little sparkle they have in their eyes.

"I work mainly in pastel and acrylics and undertake commissions at around £200.00 framed, this is based on one animal.  It will normally take me around two months to complete a commissioned portrait"

Mary Oldham

"I grew up in a small village in the Bedfordshire countryside and spent most of my childhood at the local riding stables, hence my love of horses and animals.  I have always drawn and painted pictures of friends' horses, and that progressed to their other pets.

"I now live near Croyde in North Devon with my husband and two daughters.  We have nine horses including a brood mare and her foals, two Jack Russells, three cats, a parrot and thirty assorted chickens, which all give me plenty of material for painting!  I undertake commissions of equine and other animal subjects, and always strive to capture the individual characteristics of my animal subjects to project their personality into my portraits.

"My prices start at £95.00, please allow three to four weeks to completion"

Catherine Putman

"I have my studio in Ardgour, on the shores of Loch Linnhe, looking across the loch to the slopes of Ben Nevis.  Married to a wildlife biologist, I have lived in the area for ten years.  Largely self taught, I have been painting for many years, although have only relatively recently started to exhibit more widely,

"I specialise in wildlife and sporting studies as well as pictures of other aspects of country or farm life.  Working chiefly in pastels, charcoal or pen and ink, my work features detailed studies of red deer, roe deer, eagles, seabirds and other local wildlife as well as stalking scenes and studies of domestic animals.

"My style focusses on capturing the essential nature of the animals themselves - landscapes or contexts are in consequence often stylised or kept to a minimum in order to emphasise the character of the animal portrayed.

" I accept commissions for animals and birds, wild and domestic.  My prices for portaits in pastel start at £200.00.  I can usually complete the commission within a month depending on current workload".

Marie-Jeanne Ribbink

"I was born in the Netherlands in 1959 but for the last few years I have been living in the West of Ireland with my husband and our collection of cats, dogs and horses.

"I specialize in equine and other animal portraits, my "Ballinasloe Horse Fair"  winning first prize in the Pastel Guild of Europe March 2011 competition.   My animal paintings are mainly done with pastels on velour. I find that pastels are very versatile, and the velour gives the animals' coats a wonderful soft texture.

"Here are some guidelines for size and price for commissioned work in pastels (to include a double mount but excluding delivery):

25x35 cm - from 125.00 Euros (£110.00) - fits one cat or dog head, or full body of a small pet (rabbit etc);

50x35 cm - from 195.00 Euros (£170.00) - fits two to three cat or dog heads, one horse head or full body of cat or dog;

50x70 cm - from 350.00 Euros (£305.00) - fits two to three horse heads, multiple cat or dog heads or multiple full body cat or dog."

Pam Sawyers

"I live at The Crest here on the lovely Isle of Wight.  I have always been lucky enough to live in a countryside environment, and have a love of animals and landscapes.  Being surrounded by farmland and coastal waters I get plenty of photo opportunities.

"I have been studying art for many years and have a special interest in animal portraits.  Commissions of  equine/animal subjects in pastel are in the region of £100.00  to £200.00.  Please allow one to two months for completion"

Sandy Sharpe

"I was born in England but lived for many years in Africa and India as my parents were in the colonial service.  I eventually returned to England, and for the last sixteen years I have been living among the green fields of Devon with my husband and an assortment of dogs and horses.

"Over the years I have had the opportunity to develop my art extensively, and I am now working in my favourite mediums of acrylics and pastels painting the animals I love.

"I take great enjoyment in my commissions.   I work from photographs, and am happy to give advice on the most suitable images to work from.  My prices start at £200.00 to include a doiuble mount.  Please allow four to six weeks for completion".

Kay Witt

"I am an artist based in North 'virginia, USA. I have had a varied career as an illustrator and graphic artist, designing illustrations for book covers, logos and Christmas cards.  I have won many awards, and my work hangs in many private collections throughout the United States.

"I create hand drawn pastel portraits of animals, always aiming to capture their spirit and personality.  Working from mulitiple photographs allows me to accurately capture a true likeness of an animal.  For commissions I paint pets (cats and dogs) and children in pastel, and children in watercolour. My prices start at $350.00 (£215.00).  Please allow a period of four weeks for completion, longer if outside the USA".
