'Wolf 2 ("Friend or Foe?")'
|
"Using your methods I was able to produce a portrait of a friend's English Pointer which came out so well I entered it for inclusion in the July issue of the SAA newsletter, and thereafter a further successful selection for inclusion in the "Simply the Best" competition at the Birmingham NEC in November. So all in all a good year!" - Ray Curtis, Bideford
"The tiger course was brilliant, I would recommend it to anyone who is considering the transition from pencil to painting" - Ian Barter, Chester le Street
"This E-workshop was just what I needed, a step by step guide on how to build colour with pastels. I have learnt so much with just this one workshop" - Louise Charles, Helsinki
"Your e-courses are fantastic, with precise and concise instructions that anyone can follow, illustrated with lovely high-quality photos. I would recommend your courses to everyone. They are achievable, something that a lot of other courses fail to consider" - David Molloy, Rossendale
"I would like to take this opportunity to say how much I have enjoyed my first E-workshop; it will not be my last" - Pete Cordwell, Stockport
"I have learnt such a lot. Thank you once again for giving me the chance to enjoy your inspirational workshop" - Jeannette Harrison, Sheerness
"This course has been a revelation" - Diana Hudson, Burnley
"This is the first time I have done an e-mail workshop, and I would highly recommend Vivien's course to anyone. Clear instructions made it all very easy and enjoyable. I finished the course feeling very pleased with what I had achieved" - Claire McMillan, Kendal
"I must say how I enjoyed your workshop. You have made it all very easy, especially with your clear sets of instructions. Their accompanying pictures at the different stages have been of great value" - John Dromgool, Wem
"I think your workshops are great! You have made it possible for everyone to be successful with their art no matter where they are in the world" - Kay Witt, N.Virginia, USA
"Thank you for your tuition which is absolutely marvellous!" - Alan Vincent, Co. Durham
"I had bought several books [on pastels] hoping to be inspired, but found the examples in them did nothing for me. So thank you very much. It was money well spent" - Jenet Peers, Anglesey
"I think your pre-drawn images are such a good idea as it enables the student to get straight into the "nitty gritty" of the colour and texture" - Sue Bland, Poole
"I have enjoyed this workshop so much. Starting with oil pastels was a new concept for me, feeling a little strange at first but soon realising that I was achieving an amazing portrait" - Pam Sawyers, Isle of Wight
"The Shetland pony was a lot of fun to do - the oil pastels were a joy to use, and I would encourage people to try this workshop. It is a slightly different painting technique, and for me was very enjoyable to do" - Shirley Cooper, Wakefield
My range of e-workshops began life several years ago as an alternative for people who lived too far away to attend my "live" workshops. Over the years they have proved extremely popular, and to date several hundred students have found them an invaluable introduction to my painting techniques.
Each e-workshop is self contained, and will show you everything you need to know to build up a beautiful painting in easy stages. You can proceed at your own pace, and in the comfort of your own home.
I wil start by posting out an image for you to work from. For most subjects this will be a pre-printed image on the support itself, however for the Black Cat on velour and mixed media subjects I will provide a printed drawing on sketching paper for you to trace through. For the new Rose in pastel pencil (when available) I will draw the outline myself to get you off to the best possible start.
Once you order, I will email you a set of instructions to show you how to complete the first stage, along with an image showing that completed stage. For reference purposes I will also email the original photograph (or final image). Stage One instructions contain a list of pastels and any other materials you will need. When you have completed the first stage you can email me for comments and advice, attaching a photograph of your work if you wish. Once your first stage has been successfully completed you can carry on with stage two and so on. Over the course of the e-workshop I will be giving you any advice and tips that you need to complete your painting.
The cost of the pastel on velour and pastel pencil on PastelMat workshops is £29.50 for each subject, inclusive of p&p. The mixed media workshops (currently the Meerkat, Calf, Cockerel and "Paint" Tabby) are £35.00 each inclusive of p&p, to cover the extra costs involved.
I can also supply my e-workshops by post, which makes them suitable for those without computers or computer skills. The cost of postal e-workshops is £32.50, (£37.50 for mixed media), to reflect the additional cost of postage and printing. Please note that if you wish to contact me by post for an appraisal of your work I can only accept photographs or digital images, not original artwork.. Aside from the risk of damage, the cost of postage and packing would be prohibitive.

**** Free Artwork Appraisal****
I am now including a free critique of your artwork once you place an order for an e-workshop. This will be a brief assessment of up to two examples of your work, which as well as being helpful to students will also make it easier for me to assess the stage you have reached with your artwork so I can help you to get the very best out of your project.

****Oil pastel range****
I have now introducied oil pastel subjects into my e-workshops range - to date a loveable little Shetland pony, a border collie and a black cat . Oil pastels combine the versatility of pastel with the depth of oil paints, and the Sennelier artists' oil pastels which I use work extremely well on the velour paper. Sennelier oil pastels were developed in 1949 for use by Picasso, so you will be in good company!
The Shetland Pony e-workshop is available on Hahnemuhle velour and Canson Mi-Teintes pastel paper, the Collie and Black Cat are on velour. More subjects will be added to my oil pastel range in the future. Although the Black Cat only uses four colours, it is more suited to experienced artists as you will be drawing the image yourself from a printed sketch supplied.
***Selling and exhibiting workshop images***
I like to encourage my students to sell and exhibit images which they have completed in a workshop, as they find that this helps them develop confidence (and make a profit from their workshop fees!). I would just ask that workshop images sold or exhibited are credited to me with the words "After an original by Vivien Walters" after your signature or on a note on the back of the picture.
Please note that no copies are to be produced from a workshop or e-workshop image without prior consent.
****Licensing****
My e-workshop range has been developed over the years based on subjects which I have taught in my studio workshops, in some cases based on notes dictated during the workshop itself. If you already run workshops or are considering doing so, I am now licensing selected workshop subjects for a flat fee of £250.00. Please note that a licence will cover face to face tuition only, and not teachng by any other method (e.g. by email). I can also provide advice on running workshops as part of my consultancy service - for further details please see my Private Lessons page. Please contact me if you are interested.
