I can offer private tuition in my home studio to give you personal attention and in depth advice to help you get the best out of your pastels. Even if you are a beginner you will be surprised at the results - this page shows some examples of my students' work.

Many students book private lessons for advice on a commission, but you are free to paint any subject of your choice - a favourite pet perhaps, or you can select an image from my extensive references to work from. If you wish to use your own image, please let me know in advance so that I can have a look at it and ensure it will be suitable for you to use to develop your skills.

All materials will be provided, together with light refreshments.

The cost of a private lesson is £50.00 per hour for one to one tuition, or £25.00 per hour based on two people sharing (minimum of one hour). You are free to bring a friend along to a shared lesson, or I can pair you up with another artist.

I am often contacted by artists in need of help and advice with a commission or an original painting, and I offer a consultancy service by email to advise on any tricky points which may crop up. I can for example provide advice on the choice of paper, and even supply you with a tonal study to give you a head start in completing your painting.

Based on several years' experience of successfully running workshops and courses I can also provide advice for anyone considering setting up their own art classes.

My charges are for time spent based on a charging rate of £50.00 per hour.

Please note that the tuition provided is personal to you, and that the stages of tuition (advice and Images) are not for publication. You are of course free to deal with your finished painting in any way you wish.

If you are interested in learning to paint animals, landscapes or a still life in pastel, I can offer private lessons for groups of up to five.

The cost is £50.00 per hour. If you can arrange a group of up to five people please let me know and I will arrange a time to suit.

****Free Initial Appraisal****

Once you have booked in for private tuition (either face to face or by email or post), I am happy to provide you with an initial appraisal of your artwork prior to starting. Not only do students find feedback helpful on their artwork, it also gives me an opportunity to assess your standard so that you will get the best out of your tuition. Please post or email me up to two examples of your work (animal subjects only please), and I will get back to you with my comments.
