Why not come and join one of our painting groups?  All abilities are catered for, as class sizes are kept small enough to ensure individual tuition.  Beginners can learn how to use pastels, while more experienced artists can learn new ideas and techniques.

There is always a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.  Workshops have a "follow my leader" format, to make it easy to build up your picture and bring your animal subject to life.

Workshops are run from my home studio near Torrington, Devon, and are of four and a half hours duration. Students are provided with a pre-drawn image, and all materials are supplied. Beginners are welcome. Light refreshments will be provided, but please bring a packed lunch. The cost of each workshop is £40.00 per person.  Unfortunately, I am having to cut down on my workshop dates at the moment to give me time to complete my commissions, so places are limited.  Please book early to avoid disappoinment.

                                   ****Oil pastel workshops**** 

I have recently been having great fun experimenting with Sennelier oil pastels, which combine the appearance of oil colour with the convenience of pastel. Developed by Sennelier for use by Picasso, these oil pastels are smooth and creamy to use, and can be used on a variety of surfaces.  My first workshop using oil pastels features a loveable Shetland Pony, and will be held in my home studio on 8th April.  I will be adding more of these workshops later in the year.

                                                       ***New - One and Two Day Painting Days***

I have some one and two day Painting Days available for anyone who wants to be free to set their own schedule.  Choose your own subject, finish an existing project or commission with help on any tricky areas, and develop your skills with pastels.  The cost is £75.00 per day, to include light refreshments.

                                                           ****Three hour mini-workshops****

I have added these three hour workshops for anyone who lives within easy travelling distance, or maybe wants to take a few hours out of a pre-planned break in the area.  These workshops will introduce you to the basics of my pastel techniques without eating too much into your busy schedule.  The cost of each mini-workshop is £30.00 per person, to include light refreshments

                            ***Selling and exhibiting workshop images*** 

I like to encourage my students to sell and exhibit images which they have completed in a workshop, as they find that this helps them develop confidence (and make a profit from their workshop fees!).  I would just ask that workshop images sold or exhibited are credited to me with the words "After an original by Vivien Walters" in a descriptive note, catalogue, or marked on the back of the painting.

                                                   ****E-mail and postal workshops****

I also offer my workshops as email and postal courses due to demand from people who live too far away to come in person.  Please refer to my E-workshops page for further details.

Each e-mail workshop is self contained, and the cost is £27.50 for each pastel on velour subject, inclusive of £2.50 p&p, (£32.50 for mixed media).     If a postal workshop is preferred then there will be an extra cost of £2.50 for each subject, to cover the additional cost of printing and posting.
